A Smörgåsbord of Miscellania

This image was taken during the City of Hyattsville's annual parade in 2012. I like it because it references two eras of America's history, the past and the present. You can look at it like it's a snapshot from the early 60's, when parades down Main Street were a common occurence and America felt like it was on the dawn of a golden age with the election of John F. Kennedy. However, when you consider the image within the context of 2012 it becomes more ominous, especially with the gentleman on the left raising his left arm and three officers in brown uniforms following the boy scout who is hoisting the American Flag. Through this perspective it seems like white Americans are taking to the street in a show of nationalism.
Of course neither is the case, this is Maryland after all, not Arizona, but I like images that can be read into and distort reality.
